Open Evening

Welcome Year 6

On Thursday 28th September, having only been in the school for just under four weeks, Year 7 proved to be amazing tour guides for our visitors to Open Evening. Their confidence and enthusiasm shone and they received a large number of compliments from parents.  Approximately four hundred students, from across all year groups, made a significant contribution to our evening, supporting departments. Some were teaching, others helping with directions and there were performances, as well as presentations.

A huge thank you to everyone involved, for making our guests feel so welcome and for enabling the Year 6 parents to find out about Winston, as they make the important decision of a choice of secondary school for their child.  Thank you to our staff team, who demonstrate on a daily basis their passion and commitment to the children in our care.  I would also like to thank Eddie, Maisie, Grace and Joel for their excellent presentation.

I hope you enjoy the images below:

Learning at Winston

Winston Loves Reading

Year 7 students have been eager to begin their library lessons - starting with an induction this week. It's clear that these classes have an appetite for books - even those 'I don't like' were converted!! With fifty books borrowed between 7WS and 7CR alone, it was a busy morning in the LRC!

Fresher's Fair

On Wednesday 13th September the Year 7 attended Fresher's Fair.  This is an opportunity to see and ask questions about all the different extra curricular clubs available for them to attend.  With over 40 clubs show casing what they had to offer, there was a huge buzz in the sports hall.  What makes this event so much more than just a set of 'stalls', is the Year 10 and 11 Winston students, mainly Prefects, who are promoting these clubs and interacting with the Year 7 students.
